Private Cake Decorating Class with Award Winning Sugarcrafter in Newcastle

Duration: 5.5 hours

Class Details:

Suitable for beginners through to the more experienced sugarcrafter, upon booking this experience you can discuss exactly what you’d like to achieve from your day. If you’re new to the art and therefore unsure where to start, the following is an example of what a beginner sugarcrafter could learn during a day with our skilled pastry chef...

Using a delicious, home baked sponge cake as your canvas (readymade for you prior to the class), learn how to decorate the cake from scratch, including covering it with sugarpaste, achieving a smooth and perfect finish; how to make 3 delicate sugar roses and leaves, with which to adorn your cake; how to make coloured royal-icing, with which you will learn piping methods to decorate your cake. Lastly you will be shown how to add the finishing touches, before your cake is carefully boxed up for you to take home!

Cost Includes:

The cost of this class includes coffee or tea upon arrival, all materials and your decorated cake to take away with you. Don’t forget to bring your lunch!

Essential Information:

Your class will take place at the home of the class leader in her purpose built kitchen. You will spend much time on your feet in the kitchen, so please wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.

Ensure you have short, clean, fingernails, long hair is tied back and wear minimal jewellery

Cuts must be protected with a plaster.

Although this class does not provide you with a recognised qualification, you will learn a great deal and it will be fun, relaxed and friendly!

This class is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over.

About your host:

Your host’s passion for cakes began at a young age when she would watch her grandmother baking beautiful desserts. After training as a pastry chef in Hungary, she moved to England to further her skills.

Whilst working in London at The Cake Store, a Michelin starred restaurant and the exclusive Nadell Patisserie, she became well versed in all aspects of patisserie and cake design, whilst gaining excellent experience catering for high profile events, such as the Chelsea Flower Shows, Royal Ascot and the Buckingham Palace garden parties.

In 2007 she moved to the North East and established her own business specialising in beautiful and elegant cakes. In 2010 she received gold, silver and “best in class” awards from the NECTA Salon Culinaire and British Sugarcraft Guild.
