Few activities will offer you the combination of tranquillity and excitement experienced during a hot air balloon flight. Gently drifting over some of the finest scenery the north east has to offer, you’ll appreciate why the oldest form of air transport is still as popular as ever.

Most flights take off from Allensford Park near the Durham/Northumberland border or from Beamish, during early morning or early evening when the air is stable. Depending on the wind direction you could be afforded views of south Northumberland, the Derwent Valley or of majestic Durham Cathedral. After approximately 1 hour in the sky, you will land and toast your flight with a glass of chilled champagne and receive your certificate. The whole experience lasts approximately 3 hours, but the memories will last a lifetime.

Balloon flights are heavily dependent on the weather. In the event of your flight being cancelled you may choose another convenient flight date, subject to availability and the validity of your voucher.

To fly you must be medically fit and able to climb unaided into the basket - this is similar to climbing over a 5 bar gate. You cannot fly if you are suffering from a serious medical condition, pregnant, under the influence of alcohol or drugs or have recently undergone surgery.

You must be at least 4ft 6ins tall

Children must be over the age of 9 and accompanied by an adult.
